Layering Pieces

Bring in your Boxy Tee pattern from last time (or from Sewing is Magic, week 4), or another pattern for a top you’d like to modify, and with that as your starting point, I will teach you how to transform that pattern into Signature PNW layering options. You’ll learn to use a single pattern in multiple ways to fill your wardrobe for any season.

You’ll learn to pre-fit during the drafting process and continue to refine the fit as you go.

We’ll practice design decision-making during the construction of the practice garment, and you’ll leave with inspiration for many future makes and renewed confidence in your abilities to create clothes you love.

Cropped or long length, short, or bracelet-length sleeves? Your choice!

Office suit base layer shell or ribbon-tie tank? You choose again!

You’ll also have the opportunity to incorporate different styles of pockets into your layering garment.

You can experiment with specific features you may have wanted to try in the first class, and you will learn techniques to finish the edges of any garment you make with facings or binding, (as well as other options) even if the original pattern does not include them.

Spend the afternoon with your Sewing Fairy Godmother and learn to work your own transformation magic.
For supplies, please bring the pattern you made in our last class if you attended session 1.
